Recognized as one of the world’s four most significant jewelry trade events, the Bangkok Gems and Jewelry Fair officially opened its doors with a ceremonial launch. The inauguration, held at the Queen Sirikit National Convention Center (QSNCC) in the presence of Her Royal Highness Princess Sirivannavari Nariratana Rajakanya of the Thai Royal Family, once again underscored Thailand’s strategic position in the global jewelry trade.

Organized by the Department of International Trade Promotion (DITP) under Thailand’s Ministry of Commerce, in collaboration with the Gem and Jewelry Institute of Thailand (GIT), the fair will run through February 26. For its 73rd edition, the event has expanded its exhibition space across Halls 1 to 8, hosting a total of 1,222 companies from Thailand and abroad. With products showcased across 2,794 booths, the five-day event aims to generate at least 3.5 billion baht (approximately $100 million) in trade value and attract more than 45,000 professional visitors.

One of the most remarkable highlights of the fair is the exclusive collection titled “TREASURE OF DREAMS: SIRIVANNAVARI X BEAUTY GEMS,” designed by Princess Sirivannavari and brought to life by master Thai artisans. The exhibition is seen as part of Thailand’s broader vision to preserve its traditional craftsmanship while promoting it on the global stage. Through these designs, the Princess aims to showcase the quality, refinement, and craftsmanship that define Thailand’s jewelry industry.

According to reports presented during the opening ceremony, Thailand’s jewelry sector remains one of the country’s top three export industries, generating more than 400 billion baht annually in economic value, excluding unprocessed gold. First launched in 1983, the fair has, over the past 43 years, played a key role in positioning Thailand as a global leader in the enhancement and processing of precious gemstones.

The fact that the majority of participating companies are Thai manufacturers highlights the country’s ability to blend its rich artisanal heritage with modern industrial standards. Throughout the event, professional buyers will have the opportunity to network, exchange knowledge, and explore new market prospects.
